Heroes of the Faith Nursery

So when I was prego with little Wesley I had a pretty rad download. I was praying for my unborn son and thinking about what God might have planned for him and my mind went to Jeremiah 1:5-7

5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew[a] you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

6 “Alas, Sovereign LORD,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”

7 But the LORD said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you.

I had it in my brain that I wanted to build a "heroes of the faith" nursery, but I couldn't find any ideas or "kits" anywhere...so I figured it was a farely rare nursery theme?

So we decided to build this little man's nursery around Jeremiah 1:5-7 and do it ourselves.

So the corner of his room starts with the anticipation as he was being "set apart" while still in my belly. Pictures of his sisters kissing him even before they met him. His father blessing him even before he could cry.

Then over his bed we put pictures of our heroes of our faith. Men who have shaped our Christian journey of expecting the Kingdom of God to break into our daily lives! But in the frames and next to their quotes are their baby pictures...because all heroes start as babies. (vs. 7) On the wall are men like Oral Roberts, St. Patrick, William Wilberforce, St. Francis, C.S. Lewis, Jack Stepp, Phil Strout, Johm Wimber and of course his daddy Shawn Stepp. Some of the baby pictures I was able to get from biographies, others we found baby pics in antique stores and did a little pretending.

On the walls around the room we have trains, plane, boats, trucks and cars...anything that can be used to "be sent" so that this little one will be free to go where ever God wants to send him and say whatever God wants him to say!

Sometimes when I walk into the room I get chills with expectancy. What does God want to do in and through Wesley? What does He have for his generation?

Vs "8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the LORD.

9 Then the LORD reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth. 10 See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.”
